In light of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, we've changed the criteria for our Community Grants and Small Grants for the summer and winter 2020 rounds (see Grants rounds, below). Please view the example application form and guidance notes before you start your application.
Our Community Grant does not cover salaries. The Government is providing support for this. For more information, please visit the Government website.

Green Community Grants
As part of our climate and ecological emergency work we are launching our first ever Green Community Grants. Groups can obtain a maximum of £2,000 as a grant from a pot of £10,000.
This scheme is specifically set up to support projects in our community that benefit the environment, as well as Dacorum’s residents. The purpose is to encourage and enable local groups to ‘think global and act local' whilst tackling environmental challenges.
In order to apply for funding, proposed Green Community Grant projects must demonstrate that they will actively help towards the mitigation of the climate and ecological emergency locally. Your project will need to fit at least one (ideally more) of our key environmental themes:
- Energy and emissions
- Waste and consumption. (Please note: activities around litter picking and fly-tipping will not be eligible for funding. If you are interested in litter picking, please see our community litter pick page or our Street Champions scheme.)
Projects must also engage with or benefit the local community. The projects with the greatest impacts will be awarded the funding.
The Green Community Grant scheme will be open for applications from 1 December to 31 January 2021. The money will be allocated by March 2021.
How to apply:
The online application form will be live soon - please check back.
Please note that this scheme is separate to the Community Grant scheme (below).
The Community Grant is designed to support community activities and improve the wellbeing of Dacorum residents. It is aimed at community groups and voluntary organisations within the borough who are looking for funding to deliver projects that will primarily benefit the people living in Dacorum. Projects must support our vision and priorities, as well as the "five ways to wellbeing" (see guidance notes below for more information)
It's Hertfordshire Year of Culture in 2020 and, in support of this, we're particularly interested in receiving applications for projects that have a cultural theme. If this applies to your project, please make it clear in the project description. For more information, please see the Hertfordshire 2020 Year of Culture factsheet (PDF 159KB).
Please note: If you are successful in being awarded a small grant or larger community grant, you may not apply for further funding until the next financial year.

If you apply for a grant but are unsuccessful, you may want to consider crowdfunding your project. If you reach your crowdfunding target, we will match fund up to £3,000, as long as the project meets our terms and conditions.
Please contact the Community Partnerships Team to discuss this option before starting a campaign.
