CCTV

We provide a 24-hour manned CCTV operation from our community control room. This service provides both support and assistance to the council and our partner agencies, aiding in the prevention and detection of crime in order to ensure a safer environment for Dacorum residents.

Our CCTV operation is one of the only fully wireless CCTV systems in the country. This allows the service to be flexible in its operation and, without the limitations of a fully wired network, very cost effective.

We cover public space in Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted and Tring. Our community control room is staffed by Security Industry Authority-licensed operators who monitor the cameras and provide footage for use in both civil and criminal enforcement.

Can I request CCTV footage?

In allegations of crime we will only provide footage to the police. Footage of road traffic collisions will only be released to the relevant insurance company.

Third-party information - for example, another person’s identity or vehicle registration number – will not be disclosed.

If you want to request footage of yourself, please use our  CCTV footage request form (PDF 289KB). We keep recorded images no longer than 30 days. Please be as accurate as you can about the time, date and place to enable us to locate the footage.
